UPDATE: Jordanhill School Reaches Semi-Finals!

Congratulations to the team and rugby coach, Evan Rae.

The SP Energy Networks Warriors Rugby Championship has launched and I wanted to let you know that St Thomas Aquinas and Jordanhill School are taking part!

Support our local schools on Twitter- @SPEnergyNetworks and @GlasgowWarriors and using #SPENrugby or come and cheer them on in person during the tournament!

The championship aims to showcase the rugby stars of tomorrow, provide new opportunities to raise awareness of the sport at grassroots level and promote active and healthy lifestyles to young people. The competition is the result of the partnership between SP Energy Networks and Glasgow Warriors and is aimed at growing grassroots rugby.

Each participating school will take part in qualifying rounds at Scotstoun, beginning at the end of February, and will have teams competing at S1 and S2 level boys teams as well as an under-15s girls’ team.

Winners will progress to a semi-finals stage then a final which will be played on the main pitch at Scotstoun.

Throughout the Championship, pupils will get an opportunity to meet and learn from members of the Glasgow Warriors squad who will be attending each day of competitive action.

The 2018 champions will take home the SP Energy Networks Warriors Championship trophy and brand new rugby kit for their school.

At the beginning of this season Glasgow Warriors announced a landmark three-year partnership with SP Energy Networks which saw them become the club’s Official Community Partner.

SP Energy Networks, that operates across central and southern Scotland, are working with Glasgow Warriors on a wide-range of community initiatives, including the SP Energy Networks Warriors Championship.

Building on the successes the previous championships, this year’s tournament will see the number of schools increase 25, involving over 1,000 young people.
