Bill Kidd MSP Mentioned in Nobel Peace Prize Nomination

Dr Atici, a member of the Turkey’s Republican People’s Party (CHP), nominated the Parliamentarians for Nuclear Non-proliferation and Disarmament (PNND) group for a Nobel Peace Prize, citing Bill Kidd MSP’s efforts and accomplishments as Co-President of PNND. The nomination noted that Bill Kidd “has moved the Scottish Parliament to vote overwhelmingly in favour of banning nuclear weapons from Scotland, including the UK nuclear weapons deployed on submarines based in Faslane”.

Regarding the nomination, Bill said: “It is a real honour to be mentioned in the nomination. More important, though, is the recognition of the work done by parliamentarians around the world to oppose nuclear weapons, including the renewal of Trident.

The SNP have always been resolute to our opposition to nuclear weapons. Our commitment is not just a nuclear free Scotland but a nuclear free world. PNND plays an important role in building a global network in favour of nuclear disarmament, and it is a privilege to be a part of that.”
