Christmas Meals for All- Drumchapel

TIS the season for good will and one Drumchapel charity is seeking to ensure everyone has a very Merry Christmas, by offering a traditional dinner to those planning on spending the day alone.

St Marks Church in Drumchapel

Drumhub is inviting guests to attend St Mark’s Church in Drumchapel where a free three-course meal will be served at 2.30pm on Christmas Day.

The charity is hoping to welcome in up to 65 Drumchapel residents to allow those without family or friends to mingle and enjoy the day together.

Funding donations were made from housing associations and Area Partnership, but the majority of work will come from volunteers, with everything from the soup to the mince pies to the service being offered by kind-hearted locals.

Alison, the event's organiser, said: “Some local people who have heard about it have phoned up and asked to help so that’s great.”

“I’ve told people it’s whatever they can afford, it all helps.

“One of our members has chosen to volunteer on the day although he lives alone so he could sit and have a meal himself he has chosen to help out.”

Anyone interested in the event can contact Alison on 0141 944 6156 to RSVP.
